"And you, Brutus?"

In 44 BC (A mere 2,050 years ago to this day!) Julius Caesar was assassinated by Roman Senators attempting to block his perceived move towards a monarchy. Though imbued with a sense of foreboding and dread by Shakespeare's famous play, the Ides were simply a common way of referring to the 15th of any month.

Above, Vincenzo Camuccini sets the scene in his classic work "One Helluva Toga Party."

Go to npr.org and search for Ides. Then click on the story regarding Caeser's last breath. It is incredibly interesting!
